Every move is different. Use this guide as a starting point and adapt it to your property, access, dates and belongings.
Compare the same inventory
Give every removal company the same addresses, item list, date, access details and requested services. A cheaper quote may simply be based on less work.
Read what is included
Check crew size, vehicle capacity, estimated hours, packing materials, dismantling, waiting time, congestion or parking costs and whether the quotation is fixed or estimated.
Ask about protection and insurance
Confirm how furniture, floors and fragile items will be protected, what cover applies and what responsibilities you have for packing or declaring high-value belongings.
Check the move plan
A useful quotation should reflect stairs, lifts, carrying distance, keys, building restrictions and special items. For a larger house or office move, a video or site survey reduces guesswork.
Look beyond the lowest price
Clear communication, realistic timings and a properly scoped plan can prevent delays and unexpected charges. Keep the written quotation and ask questions before booking.
Check what the mover will actually do
One quotation may include packing, protective covers, two movers and room placement; another may cover transport and a driver only. Compare the same inventory and service level before comparing totals.
Get insurance terms in writing
Ask for applicable goods-in-transit cover, relevant exclusions and how customer-packed items are treated. A headline claim of being insured is less useful than the actual conditions for your move.
