Every move is different. Use this guide as a starting point and adapt it to your property, access, dates and belongings.

Mark four destinations

Use clear labels or separate areas for items to move, donate, recycle and dispose. Do not let a clearance team guess what is unwanted.

Photograph larger items

Sofas, mattresses, appliances and dismantled furniture affect vehicle space, labour and the disposal route. Share photos and dimensions for a more accurate quotation.

Check the waste route

For household waste in England, check that a private waste carrier is registered. Electrical goods, chemicals, paint and other restricted items may need a separate route.

Clear at the right time

Removing unwanted items before a removal can reduce the moving inventory. A final post-move clearance can address items left behind when the home is empty.

Agree the scope in writing

Identify every room and type of item, access and any paperwork required. Cleaning is a separate service unless it is specifically included in the quote.
