Every move is different. Use this guide as a starting point and adapt it to your property, access, dates and belongings.

Volume and property size

The amount being moved influences vehicle capacity, crew size and loading time. A clear inventory or survey produces a more dependable quote than bedroom count alone.

Access and distance

Stairs, lifts, restricted parking, long carrying distances and travel between properties all affect the working plan.

Extra services

Packing, materials, dismantling, storage, special-item handling and waiting time should be agreed in advance and shown clearly in the quotation.

Getting a useful quote

Share accurate postcodes, dates, access details and photographs. Mention pianos, safes, large wardrobes, fragile artwork and anything that may not fit through a normal doorway.

Hourly versus fixed quotations

An hourly rate can suit a small, flexible job but the total depends on the time used and any agreed minimum. A fixed price is useful when the inventory and access are known. Ask exactly what can change either quotation.

Avoid surprise costs

Confirm waiting for keys, parking, congestion or toll charges, extra stops, heavy items and stairs in the written scope. A short video survey often identifies issues missed in a quick form.
