Every move is different. Use this guide as a starting point and adapt it to your property, access, dates and belongings.

Check both addresses

Look for controlled parking, red routes, school streets, width restrictions, loading limits and the distance from legal parking to the entrance.

Ask the local authority

Suspension and dispensation rules vary. Apply early where a bay or restriction needs official permission.

Book building facilities

Reserve lifts and loading bays, tell the concierge and obtain any move instructions or floor-protection requirements.

Keep the route clear

Do not reserve public road space informally. Inside the property, remove trip hazards and keep keys and entry codes available.

Do not assume a nearby bay is usable

Parking restrictions vary by borough, street and time of day. Check local authority and building rules for each address; red routes and private access can involve different permissions.

Explain the carrying distance

If the vehicle must stop far from the entrance, the job can take more time and labour. Send photos of the loading point and path so the crew and price reflect the real access.
