Every move is different. Use this guide as a starting point and adapt it to your property, access, dates and belongings.

Start with the actual load

A few boxes or one sofa may fit a smaller van and crew. A fully furnished flat with appliances, wardrobes and many cartons may need a larger vehicle or a survey. Count items rather than relying on bedrooms alone.

Decide who will carry

Ask whether the driver loads and unloads, whether a second mover is included and who handles stairs. A self-loading arrangement has different responsibilities and should be agreed before the booking.

Compare quote types

An hourly quote should state the minimum booking, crew and what happens if access or traffic adds time. A fixed quote depends on an accurate inventory, both addresses and an agreed scope.

Check protection and cover

Discuss fragile or valuable goods, packing, transit cover and exclusions. Send photos of awkward items and tight access so the team can plan safely.

Choose a practical route

For a compact local move, man and van can be suitable. For a larger household, extensive packing or complex access, a surveyed removal plan is usually more dependable.
