Every move is different. Use this guide as a starting point and adapt it to your property, access, dates and belongings.
Measure the whole route
Record the item at its widest, highest and deepest points, then measure doors, corridors, stair turns and lifts at both properties.
Check what dismantles
Some bed frames and sofas separate into manageable sections. Photograph fixings and never force parts that are not designed to detach.
Protect fabric and structure
Use suitable covers, blankets and corner protection. Mattresses should stay clean and dry, and sofas should not be dragged across floors.
Share access before booking
Send photos of stairs, parking and the item. Weight, long carrying distances and awkward turns can change the crew or equipment needed.
Prepare both ends of the journey
Measure the destination route as carefully as the collection route. A sofa that leaves one front door easily may not turn into an upstairs flat. Photograph steps, door frames and the item itself.
Tell the mover about condition
Mention loose legs, old joints, heavy reclining mechanisms or upholstery that needs a clean cover. Agree any dismantling, number of movers and disposal of an old item separately before booking.
